Is it just me, or is it insanely difficult to get back to the grind after a vacation?
July 1st is Canada Day in Canada (obviously) and my family decided to take a much needed camping trip. It was wonderful getting all the children unplugged and having some real family bonding time. As much as they complained about the idea of camping beforehand, I really do think they enjoyed themselves – other than the car ride, during which we were packed like sardines. Three kids plus two adults and two of our three dogs makes for a tight squeeze!
Being that this was our first family camping trip, I really embraced my craftiness and organizational skills and made many things to assist us on our trip. after a quick trip to Dollar Tree, I was ready to begin.
As per my son’s request, the first thing I made was a first aid kit. Although I could not find the carrying case I envisioned, I was quite happy with the choice I finally made – just a simple clear kitchen stacking container. In addition to the basic contents for the first aid kit, I also grabbed a weekly medication divider to store all our medications in, rather than taking full bottles.
And then it was time for my favourite part… using my Cricut to create designs to complete my crafts.
Red vinyl seemed like an obvious choice for everything related to first aid. I used Oracle 651. I prepped and primed all surfaces using rubbing alcohol prior to the vinyl application. Although it seemed like I was using my Cricut for a glorified label machine, I was so happy with how everything turned out.
Since returning home, I have made labels for all of my essential oil roller-bottles since I loved the look of these ones! In the next few weeks, I will add roller-bottle labels to my SVG freebies page.
